Bhimili Beach in Visakhapatnam Distrait
Bhimili is also called as Bhimunipatnam. 24 Km beach
road from Vizag to Bhimili is one of the longest beach roads in India.
The sun-kissed beaches en route make the Car/Bike drive as enjoyable as
the destination. Bhimunipatnam sleepy little town, is the second oldest
municipality in the country and is situated at the confluence of river
Gosthani and the Bay of Bengal.
Bhimili Bhimeswara
Swamy temple welcomes every visitor to this little town. According to
history, the temple was constructed in 1226 by Salivahana saka. There
are also cluster of temples along the line of sea coast.
the way to Bhimili one can
venture into "Erramattidibbalu", beautiful formation of red sand. Mostly
this has place been used for filming purposes. It always has been a
favorite hang out for young couples.
The important landmarks of Bhimunipatnam include, pilgrimage
centers, temples, old churches, clock tower, light house, local
fishermans port and more.
Once there was a
Dutch settlement at Bhimunipatnam, the ruins of a fort and cemetery built by
the Dutch are still seen here. Remains of a round house close to the sea
throw light on the Dutch architecture.
Bhimunipatnam beach is one of the safest
for swimming. There is a tourist resort on the way to Bhimili which is
well connected by road from Visakhapatnam. There are plenty of buses
that ply between the Vizag city and Bhimunipatnam. Private taxis can also be
arranged from Vizag.
On beach one could spot small
parks that have been developed by VUDA. Other than that one could see
the local fishermen doing the fish trading or carrying their boats and
other equipment used in fishing. Its a great place to observe the
undisturbed beauty of village surroundings at Bhimunipatnam.
